About the Artist

A life long "shutterbug", Spence is seldom without a camera
close at hand. His "office" (the basement) is littered with cameras and camera
parts, some of which are actually still in a usable condition! Others are kept
around just because you never know when they might just possibly come in handy.
The sign of a true pack rat.

His collection of old cameras includes his first camera (a
Brownie Box), which was also his father's first camera, and literally every
camera he has ever owned since plus a couple of old camera bodies that his
father recently gave him to complement "The Collection". The boxes and books of
photos tucked away in the closet include pictures he took as a child using
these cameras
luckily you won't be seeing any of these first artistic
attempts on this site - he wants you to enjoy the pictures not laugh at
them.

He prefers taking pictures that get him out of the office
and wandering the streets and fields since that is where life is happening. You
never know just what you're going to see next. After years of wandering, he has
collected a sizable library of photographs that have captured everything from
alligators to zebras, and everything in between. Over the last few years he has
made the transition to the digital world and now shoots extensively in digital
formats, using a Canon EOS-1 Ds camera as his primary body.
Enjoy the site, enjoy his photos, and don't be afraid to
suggest new ideas for him to go wandering after.
